Privacy Policy

The personal information Faktorik Group collects through this website and in the course of insuring cargo, the purposes it serves, the parties who may receive it, and the choices that remain yours.

A group of insurance companies runs on information: who is shipping what, and what happened to it on the way. Faktorik Group Insurance Services, Inc. (“Faktorik Group”, “we”) treats the personal information inside that flow with the same discipline it applies to a claim file. This policy explains what we collect, why we keep it, who may receive it (including recipients in other countries), and how you can exercise control over it.

By using faktorikgroup.com or any of our services you agree to the practices described here, including the cookie and analytics practices set out under Cookies and similar technologies and the options presented in our cookie banner. This policy should be read together with our Terms of Use.

Scope of this policy

This policy covers information we obtain through faktorikgroup.com and our other online channels. Where information reaches us another way, a broker’s submission for instance, or a call to the loss line, we follow the same principles wherever it is reasonably possible to do so.

Information we collect

What we hold depends on how you deal with us. It falls into four groups:

  • Website usage data: pages visited and the time of each visit, IP address, cookie identifiers, browser type, operating system, device, and the site that sent you to us.
  • Contact and business identity: name, employer, email, postal address, and telephone number, provided when you request a quote, apply for a policy, open an account, subscribe to updates, or complete any of our forms.
  • Underwriting and claims information: shipment details, declared values, routes and modes, loss or damage descriptions, supporting photographs and documents, payment details required to bind a policy or pay a claim, and recordings of calls with our staff or appointed partners.
  • Applicant and supplier information: when you apply for a role, including our home-based inspector programme, or provide services to the group.

You can browse most of the site anonymously. Binding cover or notifying a loss, by contrast, requires specific information without which we cannot act.

Sources of information

Most of it comes directly from you or from those acting on your behalf, brokers and authorised representatives among them. When a shipment or a claim involves other parties (carriers, terminal and warehouse operators, surveyors, loss adjusters) we may receive information about you from them as well.

Personal information we may hold

For policyholders, claimants, brokers, and other business contacts, our files may contain:

  • Name, postal address, email address, and telephone number(s).
  • Date of birth or company registration particulars, where relevant to the cover.
  • Bank and account details used to price cover and to make or receive payments.
  • Medical or injury details where a claim requires them.
  • Information needed for sanctions and compliance screening, where applicable.

Faktorik Group does not sell personal information to marketers or data brokers.

How we use it

We process personal information to:

  • Arrange, administer, and renew cargo and shipping insurance.
  • Evaluate risk, underwrite, and calculate premiums.
  • Manage claims from first notification through investigation, adjustment, and settlement.
  • Collect payments and process transactions.
  • Personalise your experience, for example by remembering a quote request you started but did not finish.
  • Respond to enquiries and resolve complaints or disputes.
  • Meet legal, regulatory, audit, and compliance requirements.
  • Keep you informed about your cover and, where the law permits, about products offered by companies in the group.

Without the information we ask for, we may be unable to bind cover, administer your policy, answer your enquiry, or settle a claim.

Who receives it

Where permitted by law, we disclose personal information to organisations that support our operations, including:

  • Brokers, agents, distribution partners, and programme administrators.
  • Claims handlers, surveyors, loss adjusters, investigators, and emergency or repair contractors.
  • Insurers, reinsurers, and industry reference databases.
  • Banks and payment service providers.
  • Hosting, software, and professional advisers bound by confidentiality obligations.
  • Regulators, government bodies, courts, and dispute-resolution schemes where the law requires or allows.
  • Other companies within Faktorik Group, for administration and group reporting.

We do not sell, rent, or pass your information to unrelated third parties for their own marketing without your consent. Disclosure is limited to what this policy describes or what is necessary to provide the service you have requested.

International transfers

Faktorik Group operates from 21 offices across North America and Europe, and the goods we insure cross borders daily; the information needed to insure them travels with them. Our offices, brokers, partners, and service providers may be located in countries whose data-protection laws differ from those of your own. When we transfer information internationally we take reasonable measures to ensure the recipient safeguards it and uses it only for the purposes described here.

Security

We maintain administrative, technical, physical, and organisational safeguards designed to protect the personal information you provide, online or otherwise. Payment information submitted through the site is transmitted over encrypted connections (SSL/TLS) and processed by secure payment providers. Access to personal information is restricted to employees and contractors who need it to do their jobs.

Retention

We keep policy and client records for as long as they are needed to administer cover and handle claims, and to satisfy legal and regulatory obligations, including the minimum retention periods imposed by insurance regulators in the jurisdictions where we do business. When information is no longer required, we take reasonable steps to delete it or to remove anything that could reasonably identify an individual.

Access and correction

We aim to keep the personal information we hold accurate and up to date. You may ask to review or correct your records using the contact details at the end of this policy. To protect your information we may first verify your identity, normally by asking for your full name, date of birth, contact details, and the specifics of your request. Where you act for another person, we may ask for evidence of their written authority.

Privacy law allows us to refuse certain access requests, and we will tell you when that applies. Corrections are free of charge; where the law permits, a reasonable fee may be charged for unusually extensive access requests.

Rights under state and regional privacy laws

Where applicable, we honour the rights conferred by the California Online Privacy Protection Act (CalOPPA) and comparable state or regional legislation. Depending on where you live, you may be entitled to know what information we hold about you, to correct it, to request its deletion, or to limit certain uses. To exercise these rights, contact us using the details below; statutory exceptions may apply.

Children

Faktorik Group provides insurance to businesses and adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has provided information to us, please tell us and we will delete it.

Cookies and similar technologies

This section describes the cookies, local storage, and comparable technologies used on faktorikgroup.com. It forms part of this Privacy Policy and applies alongside our Terms of Use.

What cookies are

A cookie is a small text file placed on your device by a website. We also use related mechanisms such as local storage, for instance to remember the choice you make in the cookie banner. These technologies keep the site functioning and retain your settings. With your consent, and only then, they also help us understand how visitors use the site.

Your choice in the banner

When you first arrive, a banner appears at the bottom of the page and remains until you choose one of two options:

  • Accept all: allows the essential technologies plus the optional analytics and measurement cookies listed below, where we use them.
  • Essential only: allows only the strictly necessary technologies that operate the site and record your choice. No optional analytics cookies are placed.

Your decision is stored in your browser (see faktorikgroup_cookie_consent below), so the banner does not reappear on each visit, unless you clear your site data or we change this policy in a way that requires renewed consent.

To change your decision, clear this site’s cookies and local storage in your browser settings and reload the page; the banner will be shown again. Questions can be sent to hello@faktorikgroup.com.

Categories of cookies

Specific cookies and storage keys

If we introduce analytics tools in future, we will update this table and, where the law requires, the banner will request your consent before they are activated.

External links and embedded content

The site links to websites operated by carriers, partners, and others, each with its own cookie practices. Should we embed third-party content or tools at a later date, they will be listed here.

Controlling cookies in your browser

All major browsers let you block or delete cookies, normally under a menu called Privacy, Security, Site settings, or similar. Note that blocking cookies altogether may prevent the banner from remembering your choice and may limit how the site works.

Do Not Track and advertising

There is no agreed industry standard for “Do Not Track” browser signals, so we do not respond to all of them in the same manner. We do not sell personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising. To opt out of any targeted advertising associated with the Faktorik Group brand, or to exercise other privacy rights, write to hello@faktorikgroup.com.

Updates to the cookie section

When our use of cookies changes, we revise this section and update the effective date shown above. For material changes the banner may be displayed again so that you can make a fresh choice.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The current version is always published on this page and takes effect on the date shown at the top; we encourage you to review it periodically.
